Pursuing Purity: Differences and Similarities between Raja Yoga Meditation and Sadhu's Teaching

Raja Yoga meditation and the teachings of Sadhu Sanyasis both emphasize the importance of purity, but they differ in their approach towards achieving it.

Raja Yoga meditation, which is a form of meditation that originated in ancient India, emphasizes the practice of purity while living in a family and fulfilling one's responsibilities towards one's parents, spouse, and children. In Raja Yoga, purity is seen as a way of connecting with the divine within oneself and achieving spiritual growth. The practice of purity involves cultivating positive qualities such as compassion, honesty, humility, and self-control, while avoiding negative qualities such as greed, anger, envy, and lust. The aim of Raja Yoga is to achieve a state of inner peace and harmony, which can be attained through regular practice of meditation and mindfulness.

On the other hand, Sadhu Sanyasis are individuals who have renounced the material world and have chosen to live a life of austerity, simplicity, and devotion to God. They believe that true purity can only be achieved by leaving the distractions of the world and going to a secluded place such as a forest, mountain or ashram, where they can meditate and practice spiritual disciplines without any worldly distractions. Sadhu Sanyasis practice various forms of meditation, chanting, and spiritual disciplines to purify their mind and attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

While Raja Yoga meditation emphasizes the practice of purity in the midst of everyday life, Sadhu Sanyasis choose to leave the world behind and live a life of simplicity and devotion to God. Both paths have their own merits and challenges, and it is up to the individual to choose which path is suitable for them based on their personal beliefs and goals. Ultimately, the goal of both Raja Yoga meditation and Sadhu Sanyasis is to attain a state of inner purity and harmony, which can lead to spiritual growth and fulfillment.
