Parenting as Trustee: Understanding Our Role in Children's Lives

The statement "Children are born through us not by us" suggests that the act of bringing a child into the world is a natural process that is beyond human control. It acknowledges that the development of a child's soul and identity is a complex process that goes beyond the physical realm of conception and birth.

As such, the role of parents is not to "own" their children, but rather to act as stewards or trustees for their children's physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This means that parents have a responsibility to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for their children, but they do not have ownership over them.

Instead, parents are facilitators who help guide their children through life's challenges and opportunities. They are responsible for providing resources and opportunities that allow their children to grow and develop to their full potential.

When parents understand and accept their role as trustees for their children, it can lead to a healthier and more positive relationship between parents and children. It allows parents to prioritize their children's needs above their own, while also giving children the freedom and space to develop their own unique personalities and identities.

In conclusion, the statement that children are born through us, not by us, suggests that parents have a responsibility to act as stewards for their children's well-being. This means providing support, guidance, and resources to help their children grow and develop, while also recognizing that they do not "own" their children. When parents accept this role as facilitators, it can lead to a healthier and more positive relationship between parents and children, and a more fulfilling life for all involved.
