Having God as a Friend: Cultivating Divine Qualities for a More Fulfilling Life

The saying that our character is the average of our 5 close friends may not have scientific evidence, but it is true that we are influenced by the people we spend time with. Our friends have a significant impact on our values, beliefs, and behavior.

However, since everyone has both good and bad qualities, it is important to surround ourselves with people who have positive traits and values that we want to emulate. This is where having God as a friend can be beneficial.

In Raja Yoga meditation, having God as a friend means connecting with the divine qualities of knowledge, purity, peace, love, happiness, bliss, and power. These qualities are said to be infinite and perfect, and can inspire us to cultivate similar qualities within ourselves.

By focusing on God's qualities, we can aspire to become better versions of ourselves and develop divine qualities such as compassion, forgiveness, and kindness. This can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

During the Holi festival, people spray colors on each other as a symbol of celebrating diversity and unity. Similarly, by connecting with God, we can imbibe the divine qualities in us, and these qualities stay with us for a long time. According to Raja Yoga meditation, these divine qualities can stay with us for the next 2500 years, which is equivalent to 20 human births.

In summary, having God as a friend means connecting with the divine qualities and values that can inspire us to become better individuals. By cultivating divine qualities, we can live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
